The Eastern Cape Education Department is pressing ahead with its efforts to improve learning outcomes in schools after the province ended bottom of the class last year.
With the matric pass rate down to 56.8 % in 2015, Acting Department Head, Sizakele Nethilaphala and her team concentrated their efforts on the Mount Frere District.
She told Algoa FM News that they've spent the pass three days with officials in the District to address outstanding issues of teacher vacancies and school infrastructure.
Netshilaphala said they're also dealing with the schools that had been damaged by natural disasters.
"There are 1665 posts that were divided among the District offices and Mount Frere District got 115, those are being filled immediately we are hoping that we can as leaders begin to work together and be able to address issues with speed so that we can ensure that we deliver quality education to our learners and we begin to improve learning outcomes in this Province" she said.
