The South African Weather Service in Port Elizabeth has released the latest rainfall figures for the province.
These figures do not include the substantial run-off that can be expected into the dams over the next few days.
Rain received over the last 72 hours in the catchment areas:
Kouga dam 47 mm
Joubertina 45.8 mm
Patensie 40.2 mm
Kareedouw 36 mm
Swartkops 35 mm
A spokesperson for SA Weather Garth Sampson says he is still waiting for final figures from Port St Johns but initial reports suggest that 300 mm of rain fell over the last three days.
Meanwhile, the Amathole District Municipality welcomed the recent rainfall as it has significantly improved some of the dam levels particularly in the Great Kei area where Morgan's Bay, Chintsa and Haga Haga dams are now 100% full.
The Cwili Dam in Kei Mouth, however, is still struggling at 20%.
According to the latest figures more rain is needed in the Raymond Mhlaba district at the Turpin and Adelaide Dams are still at 5% and 0.5 % respectively.
Hogsback Dam is at 18% whereas Mquma's Xilinxa and Toleni Dams are seating at 18% and 33%, respectively.
Communities are encouraged to utilize the limited water that is at their disposal and report illegal water connections.
