KING WILLIAM’S TOWN, October 10 (ANA) – A 27-year-old man was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment at the Tsomo Regional Court on Tuesday, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.
Captain Jackson Manatha said Sowabile Masebe was sentenced for raping a 41-year-old woman on July 4 2015, at Dudumashe Village, Ngqamakhwe.
He persuaded the victim to fall in love with him, when his request was rejected. He beat the woman and dragged her to his home, Manatha said.
“He locked the victim to his room and raped her. The victim was released on the morning [of 05 July 2015].”
A case of rape was opened. Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) traced and arrested him.
