Two police officers from Graaff-Reinet who allegedly stole state property worth more than R1 million, were granted bail in the town's magistrates court this week.
Warrant Officers, Johannes Gerber and Lawrence Plaaitjies are members of the stock theft and endangered species unit.
Among others, they stole sets of tyres, a freezer and fridge, and diesel generators.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Majola Nkohli, said they were granted bail of R500 each.
According to him the arrests on Thursday followed a week-long investigation by the provincial anti-corruption unit.
Nkholi said the team executed search warrants at the homes of the two officers where they recovered state property valued at more than R1 million.
Provincial commissioner, lieutenant-general, Nomthetheleli Mene, said there would be zero tolerance towards corrupt officials.
Their case was postponed to 23 February.
