Eastern Cape police have announced the arrest of two suspects for the murder of three men whose bodies were found in a street in Indwe last week.
Provincial police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, said the breakthrough was made on Wednesday when the men were arrested on a farm in the Indwe area.
“Police also recovered two unlicensed firearms with several rounds of live ammunition and an undisclosed amount of cash,” he said.
Nkholi said their preliminary investigation revealed that the money recovered had been extorted from local businesses, adding that “a thorough investigation will determine the course of action.”
He also identified the three deceased persons as 23-year Themba Luzuko Mbuke, 25-year-old Loyiso Simanya, and 20-year-old Asenethemba Vanikise.
Meanwhile, Nkohli said the two suspects, aged 20 and 32, are due to appear in court on Friday, on three charges of the illegal possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
