Eastern Cape gaming establishments have contributed more than R8.7m in gambling taxes to the Eastern Cape Government.
That's according to figures released by the Eastern Cape Gambling and Betting Board.
The board says of the total, casinos contributed nearly R6.8m while while route and site operations paid over R1.4m rand to the provincial fiscus.
The region's horse racing industry contribute nearly R580 000 in taxes to Bhisho.
Total tax collected from horse racing for the first seven months of the financial year stands at R4.1m.
