Mercedes-Benz South Africa became the second Eastern Cape carmaker to support the KwaZulu Natal flood-relief efforts of the humanitarian organisation, Gift of the Givers.
The East-London-based manufacturer said it had donated R3 million to the organisation, bringing total donations to date to R4 million.
The donation will be channelled towards providing warm meals, food, and emergency education essentials to the several affected communities in parts of KZN.
MBSA Executive Director Human Resources and Corporate Affairs, Abey Kgotle said this contribution towards disaster relief initiatives demonstrates the company's commitment as a responsible corporate citizen.
"With solid partnerships like the one forged with the Gift of The Givers Foundation, we will continue to serve our communities and are hopeful that those affected will emerge even stronger than before," he said.
Kgotle says the donation will also assist with building material for repairs of affected school infrastructure damaged during the floods.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen Group South Africa( VWSA) also donated R2m to the Gift of the Givers Foundation last month.
The donation was also geared towards the support of destitute communities and repairing damaged clinics, schools, and early childhood development centres.
