Eastern Cape business and political leaders have been challenged to join a regional CEO "Sympathy Sleep-out" which will take place at Sun Boardwalk in Nelson Mandela Bay in July.
The regional sleep-out will coincide with the national event which will take place on the Nelson Mandela Bridge in Johannesburg on July 28th.
A donation of R5000 in cash or the equivalent value in kind from companies is all that it will take for them to do their bit for two designated charities.
Sun Boardwalk general manager, Brett Hoppe, said they're targeting 50 Eastern Cape business and political leaders following the success of the inaugural event in Johannesburg last year.
Speaking at the event launch Wednesday, Hoppe said they want to make Eastern Cape business leaders make a difference.
"This one is another initiative that we're undertaking in order to try and drive benefit into our communities and also to leverage the broader business community to get the guys together and try and create an understanding or realisation that together we can achieve a whole lot more as a business community," said Hoppe.
"Yes, we have our competitive differences but ultimately if we can leverage all of our businesses to drive and derive benefit for the communities I think it is a critical part of doing business in South Africa, make business make a difference," he said.
Meanwhile, money raised from the regional "sympathy sleep-out" will benefit two Port Elizabeth-based charities.
Sun Boardwalk's Social Equity Manager, Nqobile Majozi, identified the charities as Healing Minds and Khayalethu Youth Centre.
