Eastern Cape police have established a task team to track down two gunmen who shot and killed a 57-year-old businessman in his home in Aliwal North on Friday night.
In a statement, police said that the gunmen entered the man’s home at Joe Gqabi and opened fire, wounding a woman in the upper body.
Spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci the gunmen proceeded to another room where they fatally wounded the man.
“According to information, there were also two children aged between 5 and 10 years in the house who were unharmed during the incident,” she said.
Soci said the gunmen fled on foot and information suggests that they were picked up by a white Polo with an unknown registration number.
“Cases of murder and attempted murder have been opened and are under investigation. The motive is not clear at this stage and police will not speculate.”
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
