The closure of the R-72 coastal road to heavy vehicles will impact on the province's economy.
The CEO of the Border Kei Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Les Holbrook, says they've been saying to government for a long time the road needs to be beefed up.
"The heavy rains that caused the road closures is going to have a significant impact on the region, we already received calls from shippers and trucker companies telling us that their trucks will be delayed and there are some factories in East London that will be affected by this, and I would imagine by Wednesday if there is no way for trucks to get through they will be going onto short time" Holbrook said
