Eastern Cape police are investigating the murder of another taxi driver who was shot and killed in Mthatha on Thursday evening.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela, said the 32-year-old was driving home to the Phola Park informal settlement when the incident occurred.
Fatyela said according to reports he was shot by assailants who were travelling in a white sedan.
He said the motive for the killing is not yet known and a murder docket was opened.
The area has been wracked by violence as rival operators battled over routes and ranks.
Eastern Cape Transport MEC, Weziwe Tikana, earlier brokered a truce after initially suspending operations between Mthatha and Port St John for several weeks in March.
The "peace deal" will be monitored by the rival associations, Uncedo and Bata (Border Alliance Taxi Association)
