Eastern Cape police arrest five Italian nationals on fraud charges

Port Elizabeth police have arrested five Italian nationals on a charge of fraud and the possession of heavy duty equiptment with an estimated value of R3-million.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says members of the Vehicle Highjacking Task Team received information about suspects selling items such as generators and drills at a low cost, passing the products off as well known brands.
She says its alleged that a syndicate has been operating in several cities around the country.
Janse Van Rensburg says two suspects were arrested in Colchester on Monday afternoon while three others were tracked down to a B&B in Jeffreys Bay where they also found the bulk of the equipment.
She says police recovered a large sum of cash and seized three luxury vehicles.
Janse Van Rensburg says one suspects is still at large while the other five suspects will appear in court on Thursday.
