Eastern Cape High School dedicated to Madiba - opens

President Jacob Zuma said today that it was a proud and emotional moment to open the first high school dedicated to former president
Nelson Mandela at Mvezo in the Eastern Cape.
Zuma said this was one of Madiba's dreams as he unveiled a plaque at the entrance to the Mandela School of Science and Technology.
Zuma was accompanied by Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga, Eastern Cape premier Noxolo Kiviet, and Mandela's grandson Mandla
Mandela.
Although learners have been attending the school since the beginning of the week, Friday was the official opening.
President Zuma said he was proud that Mandela's dream of a school in the place where he was born had become a reality.
Meanwhile The Cino Shearer Foundation has partnered with the Nelson Mandela bay University by donating R150 000 towards the new section of the university focusing on the arts .
These funds will be converted into bursaries for students from all parts of the Eastern Cape.
