Eastern Cape government dissolves Inkwanca Local Municipality

Eastern Cape MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Fikile Xasa has announced that the political administration of Inkwanca Local Municipality has been dissolved.

Xasa was addressing stakeholders in Sterkstroom on Thursday, following a decision made by The Eastern Cape Provincial Executive Council to implement Section 139 (1) (c) of the constitution, as to address challenges faced by the municipality.

Spokesperson, Mamkeli Ngam, says this means that an administrator will now be appointed to oversee administration of the municipality.

"The administrator will be expected to implement in totality all recommendations contained in the Kabuso report, to ensure that no stone is left unturned in issues of maladministration and wrong doing. Our government remains committed in fighting fraud and corruption." says Ngam.
