The death toll from the flooding that has caused havoc across large parts of the Eastern Cape, has risen to eight.
Police spokesperson, Capt. John Fobian says a 5-year old boy drowned in Buffalo Flats on Sunday morning.
He says the body was recovered by police divers.
Fobian says a woman drowned in a river in Kirkwood on Saturday while another woman who managed to hold on to a tree was rescued by police search and rescue personnel.
He says one person also drowned in Kleinskool in Port Elizabeth on Saturday while the body of a man who drowned at Coffee Bay was recovred by police divers on Sunday.
Last week three people, including a Peddie policeman, drowned when their was swept off a bridge outside the town.
The body of a woman was also found last Friday at Witteklip outside Port Elizabeth.
