An East London couple who allegedly sell dagga to the community appeared in court on several charges on Monday.
The 61-year-old Basil van Heerden and his 62-year-old wife Brenda were arrested in East London by the Hawks, in conjunction with Mdantsane Crime Intelligence.
Authorities received a tip-off that the Van Heerden couple was allegedly selling dagga from their home in Chislehurst in the Cambridge area.
Captain Yolisa Mgolodela says three purchases were allegedly made at the residence in the last month and police pounced on the property where they confiscated 1kg of dagga.
The Van Heerden's were released on bail of R1 000 and the matter postponed to the 29th of June for them to obtain legal representation.
