The East Cape Midlands College says it has beefed up security at its campuses in Uitenhage following an arson attack last week.
In a lengthy statement issued on Monday, the College said a small group of teaching, administrative and general staff members have been engaging in an illegal strike.
Acting principal, Nonkonzo Chagi, says the group has been intimidating and physically abusing non-striking employees, students and stakeholders.
Chagi says despite College Management's best efforts, striking employees have inconvenienced students by intimidation, forced removal from classrooms and the interception of buses transporting them to the campuses.
A small number of students have either voluntarily, or under intimidation, become involved in the unrest as well.
Chagi says as some of these employees are educators, the impression may have been created that teaching is totally disrupted, which she says is not the case.
