An e-hailing driver has been shot and hijacked outside a house in Hof Street in Sydenham.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the driver was seated in his blue Suzuki at about 14.40 on Sunday when two unknown men approached him.
She says the driver became suspicious and started driving away.
The suspects ran to his vehicle, opened the door and fired shots at him.
Colonel Naidu says the victim jumped out of the car and tried to run away but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
She says the suspects drove off in his vehicle that was later found abandoned in New Brighton.
It is unclear at this stage how many times the driver was shot as he was taken to hospital.
Police are investigating cases of vehicle hijacking and attempted murder.
