An alert municipal official monitoring CCTV's across Nelson Mandela Bay has helped police bust a drug gang and seize more than a million rands worth of dagga.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans, says police were alerted by the official about people off-loading bags from a truck to a mini-bus at Brighton Beach on Thursday morning.
He says police raced to the scene where they were able to arrest six suspects.
Labans says the police chopper was also on hand to assist with the apprehension of the suspects who fled when police arrived.
He says they seized 18 large bags filled with dagga, weighing 520 kilograms and with a street value of R1.3 million.
