Five people have appeared in the Oudtshoorn Magistrate's Court on charges of fraud and corruption.
The National Prosecuting Authority in the Western Cape says three traffic officers from Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn, a driving school owner and a driving school instructor appeared on Monday after being arrested last week.
The two traffic officers from Calitzdorp, Calvin Esau and Randall van der Bergh, were granted bail of R5,000 each and their case was postponed to the 27th of July.
Oudtshoorn traffic officer Nomalanga Cynthia Mani was also released on R5,000 and her case was postponed to the 4th of July.
Driving school owner Simon Xola Ngcobo remains in custody, and his bail application will be heard on the 4th of July.
Ngcobo has a pending case at the George Magistrate's Court where he has already appeared on a charge of drug dealing.
Driving instructor, Lusindiso Mnotoza, was also released on R5,000 bail and will appear in court again on the 27th of July.
The five were arrested during an operation set up after police received tip-offs that people were flocking to Oudtshoorn to buy fraudulent learner's and driver's licences from the local traffic officers.
