Port Elizabeth police confirmed that the driver of a vehicle that hit two young women in a street in Newtown Park on Saturday night had reported the matter to police on Sunday.
Police confirmed to Algoa FM News that the driver is a 24-year-old female.
Nineteen-year-old former Westering High learner, Megan Pretorius, died in hospital on Thursday after being struck by a car in West Street.
Another young woman was injured but has since been discharged from hospital.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said the matter is under investigation.
"Once complete the case docket will be presented to the Public Prosecutor for a decision" she added.
Meanwhile, Westering High School in Port Elizabeth paid tribute to Pretorius on their official Facebook Page.
The school expressed their condolences to the family, especially to Megan's brother Aidan who will start his matric this year.
