A culpable homicide case has been opened after a pedestrian was killed and dragged under a bakkie for more than 20 km in East London.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi, says it is alleged that the driver hit someone off the N2 in Fort Jackson at about 7 pm on Sunday night.
The driver told police he was too afraid to stop his vehicle and decided to drive straight to the closest police station.
The driver decided to go to the Cambridge Police Station to report the accident.
Mbi says upon arrival the driver discovered that the body of a man was still stuck underneath his bakkie.
He says neither the identity nor the age of the victim is known at this stage.
