Driver killed on R72 after allegedly overtaking on double white line

A man was killed this morning following a collision on the R72 just before the Kids Beach turnoff, towards East London.

The spokesperson for Provincial Traffic Charles Bramwell says according to an eyewitness the driver of a white Hyundai i20 overtook the vehicle in front of him on a double white line when he hit an oncoming truck.

Bramwell says the driver died at the scene.

The truck driver sustained moderate injuries and was taken to hospital

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
