A drive-by shooting near Cape Town’s Phillipi has ruined the end-of-year celebrations for learners and staff from the Mitchells Plain school of skills.
On Friday night during their 4th-year farewell ball at Barrons Estate, the shooting just outside the venue saw two killed, leaving bystanders severely traumatised.
The victims were two men aged 34 and 41, who are yet to be identified.
It is alleged that the men came to the venue to drop off a pupil when an unknown man fired several shots at their vehicle.
Both men died on the scene.
The motive is unknown at this stage.
Western Cape Education Spokesperson Jessica Shelver, says mental health care and support is being provided to those affected.
No learners or staff where injured in the incident.
