A Gqeberha man out on bail for a double murder has been arrested again for being in the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the 32-year-old man was arrested on Monday night in Sidwell after he was stopped and searched by members who were on patrol.
She said the members found a 9mm pistol with ammunition and the man was arrested.
The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing.
Naidu said on Tuesday morning during “profiling” investigators realised that the suspect was one of three men arrested for the murder of two teenagers in December last year.
The body of one teen was found in a yard on Bloekom Street in Algoa Park, while the other body was found on the corners of Bloekom and Swarthout Streets.
Both sustained multiple stab wounds.
Naidu said the suspect will appear in court on Wednesday on the firearms charge and will make another court appearance the following day on the double murder charges.
