DNA found at the crime scene of an horrific farm attack in the Hankey district of the Eastern Cape was positively matched with that of 32-year-old Sebenzile Simane who is accused of shooting and raping a 44-year-old woman in front of her three children in March last year.
This was heard in the Port Elizabeth High Court on Thursday where forensic analyst Kirstie Heyns testified that semen found on a bedsheet collected at the crime scene matched the accused.
Simane's DNA was also positively linked to and found on two cloths, a balaclava and a knife which he allegedly used to attack a woman at her home in neighbouring Patensie in February of last year.
The former farm worker has pleaded not guilty to a string of charges related to the Hankey attack, including house-breaking, kidnapping, causing children to witness a sexual offence, rape and attempted murder.
The trial continues on Friday.
