A woman has died, after she was hit by a car while crossing the R75 highway near Despatch in the Eastern Cape.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Gerda Swart says 40-year-old Sandra Speelman was attempting to cross the highway with her boyfriend late Friday afternoon.
She says the couple stopped in the middle of the road for oncoming traffic, when Speelman allegedly started to run and was hit by a black BMW.
Swart says Speelman passed away at the scene.
No arrests have been made, and police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
