Despatch SAPS want help in identifying accident victim

File

Police are appealing to the public for help in identifying a man who died after being hit by a bakkie on the R75 at Despatch.

Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu said police are investigating a case of culpable homicide “following a fatal collision between a White Isuzu bakkie and a pedestrian at 04:45 on Saturday.”

She said the bakkie driver alleged that the unknown male “suddenly appeared in front of the vehicle.”

Naidu said the pedestrian, believed to be about 60 years old, died on the scene.

He was wearing a pair of blue jeans, a thick green jersey, and a pair of black formal shoes.

“Despatch SAPS are appealing to anyone who might be looking for a relative or who can assist in identifying the victim to contact Despatch detective on 0824417828, Crime Stop 08600 10111 or the nearest police station,” she said.
