A man from Despatch who was seen on a viral video assaulting a person outside a sports bar last Sunday will make his first court appearance on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said the incident happened at around 2 am when the complainant was attacked outside the pub.
She said the alleged assailant was arrested last Wednesday and released on warning.
He is due to appear in court in Kariega on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Janse Van Rensburg said the complainant was treated in hospital and has since been discharged.
The motive for the incident is still unknown.
