Decomposing humpback whales wash ashore in East London

Facebook (East London Museum)

The Buffalo City Municipality (BCM) says increased shark activity can be expected in Bonza Bay and Blue Bend in East London after a decomposing adult humpback whale washed ashore over the weekend.

According to the East London museum this 12.2-meter whale, weighing about 30 tons, is the second of its kind to wash ashore in just a week.
BCM says in a statement that the removal of the carcass is not financially feasible at this time.

The whale's cause of death is not known.
