The Municipality has confirmed the death of an initiate in the Uitenhage area.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Municipality said while it prides itself as being one of the safest initiation areas, it was shocked at the news of the death.
No further details were provided.
Executive Mayor, Athol Trollip and Deputy Mayor, Mongameli Bobani, will extend their planned visits to initiation areas on Wednesday to include an investigation into the death of the initiate.
The Metro says this is with a view to putting plans in place to avoid such incidents from happening again.
