A man and woman from Port Elizabeth died in a house fire on Monday afternoon.
A spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says police attended to a complaint of a house fire in Bongo Street in Gelvandale at about 13.30 pm but upon their arrival, the house was already gutted.
She says the 49-year-old Nicolene Olivier, who was wheelchair-bound, died in the fire with her 70-year-old uncle Lionel Olivier.
It is alleged that their neighbour heard a crashing sound and went outside where he saw the house on fire.
The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
Police have opened an inquest docket.
