An Eastern Cape woman who submitted a fraudulent Matric certificate to secure a job at the Department of Health has been arrested and charged with fraud.
Thirty-eight-year-old Lesedi Mothuse appeared in the Mthatha Specialised Commercial Crimes Court this week.
She worked as a Senior Data Capturer since 2011 and is charged with fraud amounting to R1.7 million for salaries she received.
A spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority Luxolo Tyali says Mothuse was arrested after the Department received a tip-off.
She has since resigned from her position.
She was granted bail of R4 000 and the matter was postponed until the 21st of July.
