The Democratic Alliance Student's Organisation - DASO - has won control of the Student Representative's Council at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth.
The annual SRC elections were held on Wednesday with DASO winning by a clear majority of 12 seats out of 21 on the Council.
Yusuf Cassim, constituency leader for the Democratic Alliance Student's Organisation, says a record number of students took part in the elections.
He said the students had clearly spoken in returning DASO to power, after they lost control of the SRC last year.
