Dam levels drop another 1.8%


 The five major storage dams supplying the metro have dropped by another 1.8% over the past week and had a combined capacity of 87.3% when the latest reading was taken on Monday morning.

That is 1.8% lower than the 89.1% of combined capacity on February 17.

The latest figures show that the largest storage dam, the Kouga, is now at 89.3% compared to 91% a week ago, while the second largest, the Impofu, is at 85.9%, down from 86.7% on February 17.

The Churchill Dam has dropped from 86.9% to 79.1%; the Groendal has risen marginally from 98.8% to 99.2% and the Loerie has also increased from 85.1% to 87.3%. The average daily consumption for February to date is 323 megalitres as compared to 322Ml a week ago.
