Eastern Cape police have confirmed that advocate Dali Mpofu has been the victim of a mugging on East London beachfront.
Provincial police spokesperson, brigadier Marinda Mills, says Mpofu was attacked by two men on the esplanade yesterday afternoon near Eastern Beach.
She says he sustained stab wounds to his upper and lower body. He was rushed to hospital but is in stable condition.
Mills says the assailants robbed him of his personal belongins.
No arrests have been made.
Mpofu, who was a former CEO of SABC, is representing the injured and arrested miners involved in the Marikana massacre at the Farlam Commission of Inquiry.
