A shop selling all kinds of goods containing dagga in Sedgefield was closed down by police only hours after opening their doors for the first time.
Spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says despite recent changes to legislation that has legalised the private use and cultivation of dagga, the selling thereof remains prohibited.
He says members attached to the Outeniqua K-9 unit received information about the shop on Friday morning about two hours after opening their doors for business.
Saps swooped in and confiscated a substantial amount of merchandise including various forms of packaged cannabis, oils, sweets, rusks, wedding cakes containing dagga and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Pojie says the value of the goods is estimated at about R80 000.
A 31-year-old man from Wilderness was arrested on the spot and will appear in the Knysna Magistrates court soon.
