Dagga bust on R63 outside Fort Beaufort

Police at Fort Beaufort have arrested two suspects and seized a sizeable quantity of dagga worth in the region of R50 000.

Captain Siphokazi Mawisa says SAPS members attached to the Operation Command Centre in Fort Beaufort were busy conducting crime prevention duties in the area last night when they received information about a vehicle carrying bags of dagga  

They spotted the van on the R63 between Fort Beaufort and Komani and found 37 large bags of dagga packed inside.

Its believed the two suspects, aged 48 and 54, were bringing the dagga from Kokstad to Port Elizabeth.

Captain Mawisa says they were arrested on the spot and charged for possession of dagga.

The vehicle and dagga were confiscated by Police.

The suspects will appear in the Fort Beaufort Magistrate’s Court soon.
