The Democratic Alliance in Nelson Mandela Bay has withdrawn its motion of no confidence against executive mayor, Zanoxolo Wayile.
DA caucus leader, Leon de Villiers, says Wayile has begun to address several major concerns that led to them bringing the motion of no confidence against him.
Most of these relate to the removal of acting municipal manager, Themba Hani and the lifting of suspensions imposed by him.
"The major also yesterday established a multi party task team that will make recommendations to council on the 24th of January to declare the municipal public accounts committee a dedicated one. The new organogram was adopted in principal which now paves the way to start the recruitment of the various permanent executive directors. The DA believes the mayor showed sufficient commitment to address the major concerns in this Metro, hence we decided not to subject him to a vote of no confidence" de Villiers said.
