The Democratic Alliance says it welcomes disaster funding for last year's flood damages in the Eastern Cape's Cacadu District.
DA-MP, Elza van Lingen says the provincial and national disaster management centres have informed Cacadu District Municipality that disaster relief funding will be made available to 4 municipalities in the district, namely Ndlambe, Sundays River Valley, Kouga and Koukamma.
She says the funds have been allocated for the restoration of specific infrastructure projects.
Van Lingen says Ndlambe Municipality, which was the worst affected by the October 2012 floods, was allocated an amount of R30,76m.
The initial flood damages were estimated at R500m.
