The Democratic Alliance in Nelson Mandela Bay says it hopes to achieve 10 000 signatures on their Save Our Metro petition.
DA caucus leader in Council, Leon de Villiers, says so far 3 000 people have signed their online petition.
Speaking on the DMB on Algoa FM, De Villiers, said that something needs to be done to get the service delivery process back on track.
He says they also want to see the return of newly appointed municipal manger, Lindiwe Msengana-Ndelala, who is currently on sick leave after claiming political interference in her work.
"We fear that she will be lost to this Metro if the public don't show her full support. We are demanding that she should return to office and get on with the job that she started to do 3 months ago. So the timing is critical, it has to be now. We need to send a very strong message that we need her and we support her and she will help us to stabilise this Metro" he said.
