Eastern Cape Local Government MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, did not beat about the bush over the growth of the Democratic Alliance.
He was speaking in East London on Monday at a meeting called by the ANC to address key challenges facing local government in the province, especially issues of instability and in-fighting, which is affecting service delivery.
Qoboshiyane warned his ANC-comrades that the party's support was declining nationally.
"Nationally ANC support is decreasing. How are we going to double our efforts so that we can defend the ANC from decreasing and more concerning is the growth of the DA as a legitimate force that are against us, winning seats and voters" he said.
Referring to the DA's growth, Qoboshiyane said it should be a real concern for the ANC.
"In 2014 ANC could loose the biggest metro if we cant work and multiply efforts and our strategy from the provincial secretary. In the BCM -ANC support dropped at a growth of 12.3 % to 20.5% in 2011, and that is a matter of concern" he said.
