The DA is ratcheting up its 2016 local government election campaign by announcing plans to elect its mayoral candidate for Nelson Mandela Bay.
Deputy Provincial leader, Bobby Stevenson, says applications need to be in by the 31st of March with the party's electoral college expected to sit in April.
He says the DA believes that the Nelson Mandela Metropole can be won in 2016.
Stevenson says that's why they're starting the processes early to build momentum in the run-up to the election.
"We are going to work flat-out to bring change to the Nelson Mandela Municipality," Stevenson said.
"Under a DA government Nelson Mandela Bay will be a place of rising opportunity for all: where service delivery goes up and corruption goes down; where employment is created and crime is eradicated; where decent houses are erected and bucket toilets are eliminated. We will restore pride in our metro and establish the right culture of governance."
