The Eastern Cape's Democratic Alliance leader, Nqaba Bhanga has opened a case at the Humewood police station following an attempted hijacking late on Tuesday.
This after he was allegedly followed by two cars in Summerstrand after 10 pm, after concluding a meeting with several other political party leaders at a nearby hotel.
Bhanga said he was en route to Gomery Avenue when he noticed that he was being followed by a car for some distance.
He said he eventually managed to lose the tail, but soon after noticed that a second vehicle was following him as well.
"They were speeding after me so I decided to drive my car into oncoming traffic after they tried to overtake me, but I avoided allowing them to pass me by".
Bhanga said his plan was to get to the Humewood Police Station as soon as possible, but a wrong turn landed him at the Paxton Hotel where he then sought help.
Bhanga later told members of the media during a media briefing at the DA Head Quarters in Walmer on Wednesday, that he believes the attempted hijacking was a planned hit on his life and followed the DA's plans to table yet another motion of no confidence against NMB Executive Mayor Mongameli Bobani.
