DA provincial chairperson Veliswa Mvenya and Eastern Cape provincial leader Athol Trollip opened the newest DA constituency office in Port Elizabeth on Monday..
The Ngqura constituency in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro comprises Zwide, New Brighton, KwaZakhele, Motherwell, KwaDwesi, KwaMagxaki and Blue Water Bay.
Trollip said it was an open secret that the DA had set its electoral sights on the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
He said the opening of these new constituency offices marked the beginning of the DA's campaign to win PE in the 2016 municipal elections.
Meanwhile, Cape Town mayor Patricia De Lille has announced that she'll be standing for the position of Democratic Alliance leader in the Western Cape.
She says she'll be standing with Anton Bredell as the nominee for chairperson, and Bonginkosi Madikizela as nominee for deputy leader.
The DA in the province is expected to hold its elective conference next month.
The province is currently led by Ivan Meyer, who will reportedly stand for a second term.
