The Democratic Alliance in the Eastern Cape has lodged a complaint with the provincial Independent Electoral Commission against the ANC for a violation of the code of conduct for elections.
This, after ANC members allegedly occupied the Kuyga Community Hall on Sunday, where DA leader, Helen Zille, was due to speak.
At a press conference on Monday, DA provincial deputy leader Bobby Stevenson, said the DA was prevented from holding a public meeting by the ANC and the incident was not an innocent mistake or a mix up in the bookings for the hall.
Stevenson provided the media with an invoice of the DA's booking for the hall.
He added that the ANC 's behaviour was a violation of the electoral code of conduct which they signed for the ward 40 by-election next Wednesday.
"The ANC are trying to spin this that they somehow had a booking and that there is a mix-up. There was no mix-up they never had a valid booking and never followed the correct procedures and we did. All they engaged in was delaying tactics to prevent us entering the hall." he said.
The DA says it expects to receive a response from the IEC within seven days.
