The Democratic Alliance in the Eastern Cape says it is a disgrace that actions of violence - intended to cause bodily harm as well as utterances to do so in order to settle differences - is still rearing its ugly head in the country's democratic dispensation.
The party's shadow MEC for Education, Edmund van Vuuren says a Sadtu official, who is also a teacher and chairperson of the Hewu-branch of the union in the Whittlesea area outside Queenstown, purposefully tried to run over DA Parliamentary Leader Lindiwe Masibuko with her vehicle on Friday.
Mazibuko embarked on a long walk outside Queenstown in solidarity with the many Eastern Cape children who walk long distances to school every day.
She was accompanied by Van Vuuren, DA national spokesperson, Musi Maimane, and MP Annette Lovemore.
