DA Eastern Cape leader, Atholl Trollip, has thrown his weight behind the leadership aspirations of Mmusi Maimane.
Trollip is one of three provincial leaders who publicly endorsed the DA's parliamentary leader as the successor to Helen Zille on Wednesday.
Maimane faces challenges from the Chairperson of the Federal Executive, Wilmot James, and two ordinary members, Adrian Naidoo and Morgan Oliphant at the party's national congress in Port Elizabeth next weekend.
In a statement from the Maimane for Leader Campaign, Trollip said that Maimane is at the forefront the DA's endeavours to win strategic constituencies.
Trollip said he believes Maimane not only embodies non-racialism, but personifies it in word and deed.
Maimane also received endorsements from DA leaders in the Free State, Patricia Kopane and Jacques Small from Limpopo.
Yesterday, 144 Gauteng candidates threw their behind Maimane.
