The Democratic Alliance has announced its new Provincial Executive Committee for the Eastern Cape.
Following the election of Nelson Mandela Bay Councillor Nqaba Bhanga as new provincial leader last week, the DA needed to fill four positions on its Provincial Executive Committe.
The new appointments are those of Makana Caucus Leader Mlindi Nhanha as provincial spokesperson, member of parliament Dr Malcolm Figg as Provincial Chairperson of Finance, and members of the provincial legislature Jane Cowley and Vicky Knoetze to head the Fundraising and Disciplinary Committees respectively.
Councillor Nanha told AlgoaFM News that the new Provincial Executive Committee was ready to take the DA forward in the Eastern Cape.
He said its a new chapter and that the new PEC is taking over from a hard-working leadership, led by the Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor Athol Trollip. "They took the DA from where it was to even greater heights," said Nhanha. "We are excited to have this young, energetic leadership. There's a mix of experience in the likes of Bobby Stevenson and others and we're looking forward to working as a team to building the DA and preparing it to govern the Eastern Cape in 2019.
