DA accuses ANC of 'saving face' before elections

The DA in Buffalo City has accused the ANC of cancelling a council meeting on Wednesday to save face before the elections.

DA caucus leader for Buffalo City metro Lance Weyer says the meeting has been cancelled in order to keep several outstanding DA motions from being tabled at the meeting.

Weyer says the cancellation will delay the tabling of outstanding forensic reports, the failure of which could result in losses of hundreds of millions of rands in grants.

He adds that the ANC cancelled the meeting because they dont want to expose various excessive executive perks the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Speaker are enjoying at the expense of residents.

Meanwhile BCM ANC Council speaker Luleka Simon-Ndzele says all the parties were informed that the council meeting would not take place because they are all busy with election related matters.

Simon Ndzele adds parties showing concern over this now are just frustrated about their own political plans for the elections.
